Additional Instructions

You may sign up right up to the day of class, HOWEVER you must call Tracy Martin (phone # below) before doing so to make sure that there is room in the class. You can take your chances and just show up, and if there is room for more students, you're in. If the class is full we can reschedule you for a future class. Bottled water will be provided. We will all ride to get lunch or you can bring your own. You may want to bring a snack if you need to eat during the day.

Motorcycle Exhaust Volume!

Frederick Community College is sensitive to exhaust noise from motorcycles. Please consider this fact when signing up for the Total Control class. If your motorcycle has the factory stock exhaust system you have nothing to worry about.

However, If you have changed your stock exhaust and are now using an aftermarket exhaust here are some things to consider. There are aftermarket exhausts that provide a deeper sound, or slightly elevated sound level and there are exhausts systems that are just plain loud. Some exhaust systems are loud with the throttle open (engine revved up) but are relatively quiet at idle and lower throttle settings.

Here’s the bottom line. If your exhaust is loud at idle or at part throttle you will not be able to participate in the Total Control class at Frederick Community College. This is a subjective call that will be made by the instructor when you arrive the day of the class.

If you are not sure as to how loud is too loud, an alternative would be to sign up for Total Control at Howard Community College in Columbia Maryland where “volume” is not a problem.

Please contact me via phone/email if you would like to discuss your exhaust system’s ability to keep the college happy. Total Control is not on a crusade to stop riders from using aftermarket exhaust systems—we simply want to preserve our good relationship with Frederick Community College.
